  Man killed over cigarette

Rice Nyerete (23), of Nzombe village under Chief Makoni in Odzi, died at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare last Saturday after he was fatally struck with a log by his drinking mate Trust Mutunha (29), who is still at large.

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Enock Chishiri confirmed the incident, adding the fugitive Mutunha faces a murder charge.

He said on Wednesday last week, the two were drinking beer in the company of others at Chiwende business centre in Odzi when a misunderstanding broke out after Nyerete asked for a cigarette from Mutunha.

Nyerete allegedly lost his temper after Mutunha refused to share his cigarettes, leading to a heated altercation.

“When the now deceased realised that his friend was getting angry, he went out of the bottle store, but Mutunha followed him outside. A friend managed to restrain him from striking the now deceased with a log,” Chishiri said.

“After a while, Mutunha picked the log again and struck his drinking mate once on the back of the head and he fell on the ground and became unconscious,” Chishiri added.

Upon realising that he had committed an offence, Mutunhu disappeared into the darkness to evade arrest.

Nyerete was taken by his friends to Rusape District Hospital where he was later referred to Parirenyatwa where he died on admission.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a 42-year-old woman along with her 19-year-old niece for fatally assaulting their 15-year-old relative over missing T-shirts.

According to police, Clara (42) and Stewart Muchinjiko (19) of Mayo teamed up to assault Constantia Muchinjiko accusing her of stealing two T-shirts last Saturday.

After failing to get a confession over the two missing clothing items, the two tied the juvenile to a pole and took turns to assault her until she fell unconscious and later died.welcome to High quality KORS Grade A Handbags online store,Free shipping‎!

The two allegedly made a false police report that Muchinjiko had died of food poisoning.

However, preliminary investigations by the police showed that she died due to assault, leading to the arrest of the pair. They are expected to appear in court soon.

Cleveland Area Rapid Transit is offering free fare and a limited number of T-shirts to passengers to celebrate Dump the Pump on Thursday.

This is the seventh year CART has participated in the national event that promotes public transportation as a way to save money and reduce fuel consumption, said Vicky Holland, OU Parking and Transportation spokeswoman.

All routes will be free for passengers, but T-shirt are only going to be given away at the new Brooks Street Transfer Station beginning at 8 a.m. while supplies last, according to a press release.

Many first-time riders try out CART on Dump the Pump day because of the free fare, Holland said.

“It’s a way to introduce the bus system to younger generations,” she said.

One of the prime minister's great accomplishments -- and a source of his mystique in Europe and the United States during his early years in power -- was his efforts to forge a Turkey that was (all at the same time) more Muslim, more European, and more democratic without losing that fiercely held sense of "Turkishness.welcome to Buy Discount Hermes Grade AAA Handbags for sale,Free shipping‎!" For other politicians, the contradictions in this would be too difficult to manage politically, but not for Erdogan.welcome to Buy Cheap Ralph Lauren Shirts for sale, best service and low prices. What better agent of change than the physically imposing, wear-his-emotions-on-his-sleeve, confident embodiment of the new Turkish man to bring the country out of its self-imposed insularity. Erdogan held out hope that the debilitating war over Turkish identity that had been at the heart of the country's political drama since the republic's founding might come to an end, and he rode a broad coalition of Turks back to power in 2007, and again in 2011.

The first (and until Gezi Park, the only) political crisis of Erdogan's tenure came in the late spring of 2007, when the prime minister appealed to democracy, a sense of fairness, and widely shared sentiments about a new Turkey -- giving him a victory over the military, which had sought to block Abdullah Gul from becoming president. This was the Turkish leader at his zenith.
